Wetlands Licensing General Information

A wetlands license is required before you dredge, fill, or alter state tidal wetlands. Examples of activities for which you need a license are:

  • Piers and boat lifts,
  • Bulkheads,
  • Stone revetments,
  • Stone breakwaters,
  • Boat ramps,
  • Jetties or groins,
  • Marsh creations,
  • Mooring piles,
  • Nesting poles,
  • Beach nourishment,
  • Utility lines or pipes/conduits, and
  • Dredging or basin excavation, etc.
